Our Doctors
Dr. Dakota Garber and Dr. John Ratchford both hail from small towns in South Georgia. They connected immediately during their first semester of Dental School over their values, faith, upbringing, and shared career dream. They wanted to create a small-town community dental practice where patients come first, and caring, non-judgmental treatment is offered with top-of-the-line technology. John and Dakota do not shy away from hard work, and their families instilled in them the value of integrity. They understand the importance of putting in a full day’s effort, not only in their professional lives, but also in serving their community.
Dr. John Ratchford and Dr. Dakota Garber
Dr. John Ratchford was raised in Springfield, GA. He attended the University of Georgia for his undergraduate degree, and continued his education at the Dental College of Georgia. He and his wife Emma just welcomed a beautiful baby girl to their family, and they have a sweet pup named Wayne. Dr. Ratchford is proud to call Springfield HOME, and looks forward to providing the best care for his patients just as his father, Dr. Joseph Ratchford, has at Effingham Medical Partners. When John does not have on his white-coat he enjoys watching Georgia Football, hunting, grilling, fishing, being on the water, and spending time with family.
Dr. Dakota Garber was raised in Waynesboro, GA on DW Ranch right down the road. He attended Georgia Southern University for his undergraduate degree, and continued his education at the Dental College of Georgia. He and his wife Chandler love being a part of the Springfield Community, and they have an adopted rescue pup named Riley. Dr. Garber is proud Effingham County his HOME, and he looks forward to providing the best dental care to his friends, family, and community. When Dakota does not have on his white-coat, he enjoys watching Ohio State football, playing pickle-ball, supporting local restaurants, and hosting dinner for friends and family at the house.

Michaela
Michaela is a registered dental hygienist known for her dedication, skill, and compassionate approach to patient care. With a passion for promoting oral health, she takes pride in making her patients feel comfortable and valued during their visits. She is a wonderful listener and truly puts her patients concerns first. Outside of her professional life, Michaela is a devoted wife and mother of two, and she cherishes time with her family. Her commitment to both her career and her loved ones is admirable and we are blessed to have her on our team.
Sydney
Sydney is a certified dental assistant whose kind and genuine spirit brings joy to both her coworkers and patients alike. With a natural ability to connect with others, she creates a warm and welcoming atmosphere that helps patients feel at ease during their appointments. Sydney is passionate about providing exceptional care, ensuring that each individual leaves with a smile. She is a mom of two and loves spending time with her family and friends. Her positive energy and dedication to her role make her an invaluable member of our dental team.
Melanie
Melanie is a registered dental hygienist known for her wisdom and experience as well as her ability to empathize with her patients. She truly puts in the extra effort to understand her patients’ needs, and she goes the extra mile to ensure they feel comfortable and supported during their visits. Melanie’s loving spirit creates a positive atmosphere that uplifts both her coworkers and patients alike. Melanie is a loving wife and mother, and her children are her pride and joy. We are very thankful to have Melanie’s talents and gifts here at SFD.
Heather
Heather is a certified dental assistant, as well as, skilled patient care & insurance coordinator. She is selfless and caring to all those around her, treating her patients like family. She balances her roles as a devoted mom and wife with her commitment to providing exceptional care in the dental office. Heather has a unique ability to put herself in her patients’ shoes, ensuring they feel understood and supported. She also excels at breaking down treatment options and appointment details for her patients. Heather brings smiles to her coworkers daily, and we are thankful for the ways she serves our patients at SFD.
Lena
Lena is versatile and dedicated serving our office in multiple roles as our office manager, patient care and insurance coordinator, and as a registered dental hygienist. Lena excels at breaking down treatment options for patients, ensuring they feel informed and comfortable with their care. Lena’s positive attitude and infectious laughter make her a wonderful coworker, bringing joy to the office. Her ability to create a supportive and uplifting environment not only enhances team morale, but also enriches the patient experience, making her an invaluable asset to us here at SFD.
Marcie
Marcie is a certified dental assistant, as well as, talented patient care & insurance coordinator. She is known for her friendly, calming, and approachable demeanor. Marcie takes great pride in being a supportive listening ear for patients, whether they are sharing their concerns or their joys. Marcie ensures that she goes the extra mile to understand patients insurance benefits and treatment options. She is always striving to find the best solutions for her patients’ needs and we are blessed to have her at our office.
